Energy Drinks May Be Good for a Hangover

Many people consider having energy drinks when they drink alcohol.  Does Red Bull and vodka ring a bell?

However, not many people consider an energy drink to be good for a hangover.

Despite the rare assumption that energy drinks may be good for a hangover, there are some qualities about energy drinks that have been known to help.  Lets take Rockstar as an example, as it is one of the healthier energy drinks on the mass market.

Here’s 3 qualities of a Rockstar energy drink that may be good for a hangover:

  • Vitamins
Energy drinks typically are loaded with Vitamin B, as it’s known to help with energy.  On the flip side, many sources state how vitamin B is also good for a hangover, such as Wikipedia.  Refer to 7 Simple Hangover Tips about vitamin B.
  • Taurine
It is known to be a natural form of energy, which can therefore help when you’re tired the next day.
  • Hydration
As we all know, being hydrated can prevent things such as a dry mouth the next morning.  Energy drinks of course help to hydrate, they just have more helpful ingredients than just water.

Read the backs of energy drinks.  Some disadvantages of an energy drink is they usually contain high amounts of sugar.  If possible, stay away from high fructose corn syrup (aka crystalyine fructose).

Even though something may be good for a hangover, you must weigh any unhealthy aspects as well.

7 Simple Hangover Tips

  1. Go out on a full stomach

When your stomach is full you won’t get drunk as fast, and usually you won’t drink as fast either. It has an effect on both mind and body. This also gives fuel for your body to recover from the alcohol.

  2. Don’t mix alcohols

Mixing different kinds of alcohols such as beer, liquor, wine and whiskey is a disaster waiting to happen. Not only can it cause painful hangovers, but your body can reacts different to each kind of alcohol.

  3. Stay away from sweet drinks

Sugar is a killer when it comes to drinking.  The sugar can cause a spike and crash in your blood sugar level, and therefore spike the intensity and possibility of getting a hangover. Next time, don’t have too many Rum and Cokes, Daiquiris, Margaritas or any other high sugar containing mixed drinks.

  4. Take vitamins before going out

Many say that our bodies get depleted of nutrients when drinking alcohol, so if you have some Vitamin C and B hanging around, take it before you go out.   In fact, Wikipedia states the theory that a depletion in Vitamin B can cause hangovers.

  5. Hydrate

This one is a given.  Drink as much water or healthy fluids as possible.  It sometimes is hard to drink water while you’re out, but at the least drink a couple glasses before you go to bed.

  6. Get a maximum amount of sleep

The less sleep you get, the harder it is for you body to recuperate.  Shoot to get a bare minimum of 6 hours of sleep, preferably 8 or more hours. Resting gives your body more time to recover from the alcohol.

  7. Try a hangover product

It may be the easiest of all hangover solutions.

Drink responsibly and enjoy the hangover tips for the next night you have some drinks.
