Can tomatoes really help hangovers? Or is it a nutrient/s in it? Either way they taste great!

Did you know about the tomato’s history?

“The tomato is native to western South America and Central America. In 1519, Cortez discovered tomatoes growing in Montezuma’s gardens and brought seeds back to Europe where they were planted as ornamental curiosities, but not eaten.”

http://homecooking.about.com/od/foodhistory/a/tomatohistory.htm

The main nutrient found in tomatoes is Lycopene. This is a powerful antioxidant which helps to slow down damage cells in the human body. It also may help with eyesight from blurring.

“Tomatoes are also high in vitamin C (concentrated the most in the juice sacs surrounding the seeds) and contain goodly amounts of potassium, iron, phosphorus, vitamin A and vitamin B.”

http://homecooking.about.com/od/foodhistory/a/tomatohistory.htm

With all these benefits in tomatoes the one nutrient that stands out is lycopene. Lycopene can also be found in several other foods.

Sources of Lycopene
-Tomatoes
-Grapefruits (pink)
-Watermelon
-Guava (pink)
-Rosehips (fruit from the rosebush)
-Papaya

This is why lycopene is in Zaca the hangover patch. This ingredient alone can do wonders on hangovers.
