The margarita, the famous cocktail of tequila, Triple Sec, and lime juice --- has been around since as early as the 1930's.
Most bartenders like to put a unique spin on the classic cocktail, however, no one still knows who it originated from. Everyone wants to put their claim to fame for inventing the margarita.
A legend has said that Carlos Danny Herrera invested the cocktail at his Tijuana restaurant in 1938. It was a customer named Marjorie King who was allergic to all hard alcohol besides Tequila.
Another story tells that Willie, a bartender from Mexico City, named the drink after his friend Marguerite Hemery.
While the true inventor of Margaritas may never been known, the drink goes down in history as one of the most popular cocktails of all time.
Cheers to National Margarita Day!
